Dateline Roswell, New Mexico. “The Truth Is Out There”. But it took the better part of nine hours for Your Intrepid Cancer Cure Rider to travel the 376 miles to get there, so the aliens had all returned to their Flying Saucers as I was arriving in town.
Your Intrepid Cancer Cure Rider is a believer. Thus I am convinced that when “They” knew I was coming into town, “They” decided to make it as difficult as possible for me to make a Close Encounter Of The Third Kind. A full report will be made to you, my trusting public, tomorrow.
In the meantime Yours Truly found New Mexico terrain to be very much like Arizona, and what I fear will be like most of Texas as well. Desert, sagebrush, cactus, rocks, and heat…..nice and cool today, only hit 103. Even the locals are complaining about the “heat wave”.
As I entered New Mexico I stopped to photograph the welcome sign. And all of a sudden this is what I heard. I could just feel “The Magnificent Seven”, on horseback, running hard out with the Bandillaros chasing them up from the border. I could hear the hoof beats, see the dust rising, feel the heat as it rose from the desert. I couldn’t help but make this little vignette for your enjoyment.
I did visit the White Sands Missile Testing Center though. Take a look at the video. No, that is not snow. It really is sand.
Somewhere North of Alamogordo I went over what passes for mountains and guess what?? Yup….good old rain! 98 degrees and raining. A small, short lived cloudburst that actually felt really good. Darn, now I gotta wash the bike again.
More tomorrow…..if I’m not abducted…

Dean,
I think the Angel Riders called down the rain to cool all of you off!
