Cancer Ride America sets first mileage record…..and in the 109 degree desert!!

Dateline Willcox, Arizona.

First, allow Your Intrepid Cancer Cure Rider to remind you all who the “brains” are behind this extremely important effort. Today I was in constant contact with “Ground Control”….”THE BOSS” for many reasons. There Yours Truly was, flying down the Interstate, wondering where gas was, wanting to call an old friend in Arizona, stopping in Tuscon somewhat tired but OK to move on, especially when “The Command Center” told me about the cockroaches in the hotel I was considering…..and on and on. Of course I refer to my wonderful wife, Leanne Shirey. She has been such a strong supporter of this ride, the reason for it, and me. I love you and miss you. I will see you soon.

And Your Intrepid Cancer Cure Rider would also like to make a personal thank you to Janice, at Brunner Inn and Suites, El Cajon, CA. I stayed there last night and found her to be warm, welcoming, and charming. Janice took a real interest in Cancer Ride America, “To The Ends Of America To End Cancer”, and asked me for one of my cards. She then requested that I bring up the website on the office computer, where she watched the SPOT track link. Janice, you are one in a million. It was a real pleasure to meet you.

Today yours truly set a Cancer Ride America mileage record……474.5 miles. From El Cajon, CA. to Willcox, AZ. But, it’s not as great as it sounds. Hundreds of miles of cactus, desert, and hot, very hot rocks. I set the “cruise” on my ‘Wing and held on. However, I do have a little case of “TB”.

Tomorrow I cross into New Mexico. Maybe I can stretch to Roswell, where I hope to find evidence of alien space landings…. I’m sure I will. “They’re Out There”.

Ride On,
C.C.R.
