Your Intrepid Cancer Cure Rider has a short day today and indulged himself in a tour of the National Naval Aviation Museum on the Base at N.A.S. Pensacola. I’m told that it’s one of the biggest Naval Aviation museums in America and I believe it. It occupies several large buildings. It has hundreds of static displays, flight simulators people can go on, and my favorite, a wall of Medal of Honor recipients with videos of them and their stories. As they say, “All Gave Some and Some Gave All”. Yours Truly has always been patriotic and the visit confirmed to me that America is still the greatest, most powerful Country in the world.

N.A.S. Pensacola is the home of the famous Blue Angels. It is my understanding that their funding had been recently cut by the government, so I was surprised to see two of them in the air, apparently practicing. I was unable to take a picture because I was near the entry gate to the base and photography is strictly prohibited.

Here are a few photos taken at the museum. Enjoy!

This morning I was interviewed by WEAR TV, Pensacola. I want to publicly thank Kyle Brinkman and Randy Wood for sending photographer John Finley and his lovely assistant D’atra out. And of course our friend Bob Gibbs again for arranging the interview.

John and D’atra arrived at my humble campsite shortly after 8:00 and spent about an hour filming Yours Truly, the ‘Wing, and of course my tent. They had dozens of questions about the ride, how I’m doing, how Leanne is doing with me gone for so long, and just why us and why now? In other words, “What the heck were we thinking”??!!

When I get weary I look to Leanne and our Angel Riders. As I explained to John and D’Atra, Leanne is my rock and she and the Angels give me comfort and strength. Were it not for her I’m just not sure I would be able to complete this ride.

Why now? My reply? “Well Why Not Now”? There are dozens of organizations soliciting funding for this or that cancer research. Cancer Ride America is unique in that we are trying to directly help cancer patients and their loved ones, and research to find a cure for all cancers.

Why us? Well, far too many people spend huge amounts of energy and time talking about what “they should do”. Others have a desire to help but can’t. Precious few step up and actually do it. Leanne and I, with all of your amazing help and support, are stepping up at this time to do what we can. It was our turn.

Ride On,

C.C.R.

LATE UPDATE: News story by WEAR TV: http://www.weartv.com//news/features/top-stories/stories/retired-seattle-polcie-officer-traveling-united-states-raise-awareness-money-32978.shtml

Dateline Naval Air Station Pensacola – The Home Of The Blue Angels.
