The ride home from that wonderful reception at North Star Lodge was, I dare say, yet another adventure for your Intrepid Cancer Cure Rider. After a fantastic escort by my fellow North Star Lodge riders from Ellensburg to Yakima:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ElwyCP_znkg?feature=player_detailpage\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Yours Truly hit the road under escort by Mission Control and &#8220;Wingnut&#8221;. Leanne and Greg both said they wouldn&#8217;t be leaving my side until I was home, and they were good to their word. However, it would seem that Mother Nature had to have one final shot at me!:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q8ziI5uuxzc?feature=player_detailpage\" height=\"360\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition to that cloudburst, which rivaled the ones I saw in Florida, we had construction, rolling slowdowns on Snoqualmie Summit, and the usual crazy RV drivers and trailers during these last few days of summer.  And then to top it off, there was a huge lip in the asphalt where they had done one lane but not the other. Wingnut wound up in one lane and I in the other. Even with my advanced skills, training, and 27 years on motors, I was unwilling to chance crossing it into Greg&#8217;s lane. After all, I may be OK at pulling others from the water, but landing in the drink of Lake Kechellus was not on my agenda. Besides, I had Mission Control covering my six so I just slowed down and took it easy. I had started to relax, knowing I could smell home from here. That, perhaps, was not such a good thing after all.  This last little leg of America&#8217;s Perimeter Tour &#8211; &#8220;To The Ends Of America To End Cancer&#8221;, turned out to be challenging to say the least.  I actually had to focus on my riding rather than daydream&#8230;.which would have been my strong preference.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But as you already know (after all, who else would be writing at this late date?) I did make it. It was just a little emotional, drawing this trip of a lifetime to closure is more difficult than I would have thought. Crazy, huh?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/31YLI0xSMjQ?feature=player_detailpage\" height=\"360\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wheels Down, indeed,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>C.C.R<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PS:  Tomorrow I get to talk to someone at the Yakima Eagles, where Terry was a member.  They were there for us when he passed, and as it turns out there at the end of Cancer Ride America, with a huge donation.  Problem was I didn&#8217;t know it at the time and they got left out of the presentation of the check ceremony.  Stay tuned.
